DeRosario Trade Rumors (WARNING: Lame)

In what must be the least substantial report I've ever read, Sports Illustrated's "Truth & Rumours" devotes just one paragraph to the possibility of the Houston Dynamo's Dwayne DeRosario heading overseas. So, "Europe is clearly calling," but who's on the other end of the line and what are they offering? I can't see Major League Soccer letting DeRosario go for cheap either.

I wouldn't be the one turning up my nose at the fee; the league, that is, MLS is the rub. I was referring back to their decision to turn down $1.5 - $2 million for Clint Dempsey; because DeRosario is Canadian, they might not be as uptight on letting him go as they were with Dempsey. But, yeah, you're right: a high fee here is a pittance across the pond and Yanks are bargains. Based on the Dempsey decision, that's something MLS is looking to change. For what it's worth, though, I think they'd let DeRosario go for something like what was offered for Dempsey. Much as I'd miss the player - and he is one of our best - I'd be fine with that, but the league should play coy at least for a while; that goes double if there are multiple bidders in play, as SI's article suggests.

You picked a great name, by the way.
